Loans
We send specimens on loan to all registered herbaria. Requests for loans without further specification will automatically result in material of both herbaria (Z and ZT) being sent. We also send type specimens on loan, but the duration of the loan is limited to six months. Please pay attention to our user instructions
Exchange
We have an active exchange program worldwide with over 60 herbaria. We are looking in particular for Tracheophytes and Bryophytes from outside of Central Europe. We offer Bryophytes and Tracheophytes from Switzerland, as well as Southern and Central Europe.
Visits
The herbaria are open to everybody for scientific investigations. Visitors should contact one of the curators in advance. Please inform yourself about the details of our user regulations beforehand. If you would like to bring dried plant material to the collection room for comparison purposes, it needs to be treated against pest insects beforehand by freezing at -30 degree Celsius. Therefore, the material should be sent to one of our technical assistants one week prior to your visit (NB: on behalf of 'name of visitor').
Office hours:
The herbaria are open from Monday till Friday from 8.00 to 17.00 (except public holidays). Please report at the reception of the Institut for Systematic Botany (office 0/13) or with one of the curators (offices M1/24A and M1/25). The fungarium at the Institute of Integrative Biology can be visited by arrangement with the curator. Material will only be loaned to scientific institutions; loan requests should be directed to the curator.
